Seth Thomas French Empire Style Column Clock

This attractive clock has a French Empire column type case with bell chime.  Unlike the regular French clocks, it has a key-wound, spring driven movement made in Germany for Seth Thomas.  The bell chime is held up by a gilt figure from the base of the clock.  This rare clock was only made for one year by a partnership between American, German and English companies.  At the top of the dial are the words, "Metamec and Dereham".  At the bottom of the dial is, "Made in England".  The back of the movement is marked, "Made in Germany for Seth Thomas Clocks, Thomaston, Conn., USA".  It has the numbers "A 206-002" and "6413", and states, "Two jewels".  The partnership was subsequently dissolved, and no further clocks of this type were made.  This is a good working clock and very collectable.

Ref. No. 058001
Date: 1899
Size:
18 1/2" h x 9 1/2" w x 5 1/2" d
