Rosewood and Ivory Makeup Case w/ Mirror
Remarkable
Chinese carved rosewood makeup case
with fold-down mirror. The top has brass bat hinges and, when lifted, opens to
show
triple fretwork doors that double in front of three mirrors. The base has
three mirror sides and the front has a fretwork door which slides in one
side. Behind the door are two drawers. The top drawer has one section
with a cover and mirror over six jewelry holders. The box is supported
on four feet of made of ivory balls.

Condition: Overall condition
is excellent. There is some minor loss to the
rosewood fretwork on one of the fretwork doors and slight warp to the
wood on the top of the box. There are two age cracks
in
the base and some age cracks in one of the ivory feet.

Early Japanese 3-case black lacquer inro
with roiro ground, decorated with 2 dogs playing with awabi
shell on a rope, in rubbed gold takamakie inlay, the shell
covered with aogai kirigane & the interior of roiro with
fundame edges.

"Kilroy Was Here" Statue of a Pregnant Girl
WWII era carved ivory statue of an obviously
pregnant girl standing with her head down, on a pedestal marked "Kilroy
Was Here". It is signed on the bottom with the signature of the
artist in Japanese characters.

Finely carved ivory figure of a large
Brahma bull with “Stuart – KH02A” on the underbody. Every detail
is present on this life-like carving of a large Brahma bull. Also listed is a smaller

Seated
Buddha Disciple, Mandalay
Seated Mandalay style Buddha disciple with
hands resting on legs of carved wood statue decorated with gilt overlay.
It has an ornate
design on the robe with inlays of small round mirrors with clear, red and green.
We have two larger seated wooden statues of Buddhist disciples that are
not shown here, but photos and information can be sent upon request.

of exterior designs. The back is finished in a blue enamel fish-scale

Chinese
Cinnabar and Enamel Box
Unusual
Chinese box with a cinnabar decorated
top and finely enameled sides and interior of lid, on a copper foundation. The
top
half of the box has a beautifully carved cinnabar design of eleven peony flowers and
scrolling leaves. The inside lid has enamel decorations of antiquities
symbols as well as on the edges. The bottom half of the box has enameled
antiquities symbols around the sides. There is a “Made in China”
mark impressed on
the copper bottom.

Condition: Box is in
excellent condition. Cinnabar has a mini chip on the front right and two
small cracks in the middle edge on the left side, that are barely
