Chinese Ming Porcelain Bowl

Description:  Chinese porcelain bowl with an under glaze blue double circle around the rim as well as a double circle around a design of birds and flowering plants.  The exterior has two under glaze blue circles and two round dots.  The glaze extends to the foot where the bottom is unglazed.  There is some old sand residue at the foot.  The foot is unglazed.  There are no marks.

Condition: Overall excellent, but there are some abrasions to the foot due to age as well as on the rim.  

Date: Ming Period, 1368-1912

Chinese Export Rose Mandarin, Pair of Punch Bowls (Bowl 1)

Superb pair of Chinese Export Rose Mandarin Punch Bowls. The bowls are decorated on the exterior with a cobalt ground with two reserves of Mandarin figures. The interior rims of the bowls have a blue floral design and a gilt-red cross design. There is an under-glaze blue flower in the center of the bowl.

Chinese Export Rose Mandarin, Pair of Punch Bowls (Bowl 2)

Superb pair of Chinese Export Rose Mandarin Punch Bowls. The bowls are decorated on the exterior with a cobalt ground with two reserves of Mandarin figures. The interior rims of the bowls have a blue floral design and a gilt-red cross design. There is an under-glaze blue flower in the center of the bowl.

Chinese Export Rose Medallion Mug

Chinese Export Rose Medallion Mug with twisted porcelain handles. The mug has two large enamel reserves of garden scenes surrounded by a rust-red design.

Condition: The Mug is in good condition but appears that there has been a professional repair and there is some loss to the enamel. There is a small hairline on the top edge.

Chinese Export Rose Canton Oval Platter

Very large, early Chinese export Rose Canton oval platter. The overall design has an incredible variety of scattered peony flowers and leaves, on a light celadon background. The platter has a sandy bottom indicative of the early firing method and period.

Chinese Export Rose Canton Charger

Extremely fine quality, Chinese Export Rose Canton Charger with outer edge beautifully decorated with six reserves of flowers surrounded by gilt background with flowers and butterflies. The center of the charger is adorned with peony flowers and butterflies amid foliage.

Chinese Kendi, Green with Flowers and Leaves

Early lidded Chinese porcelain Kendi (water pitcher) with a variety of green and rose pink flowers. Has the original two-piece repousse
metal top with an incised rose design.  Has an old paper label on bottom.  Kendi of this quality are very rare.  It came from a renowned collection of Chinese art and antiques.

Chinese Kendi, Green with Decorative Panels

Early Chinese earthenware Kendi (water pitcher), with dark green glaze over a black pottery form. The Kendi is decorated with a shield design and panels.  This rare Kendi was acquired along with the above item and came from a renowned collection.

Japanese Imari Charger with Deep Reds and Blues

This fine example of a Japanese charger features scalloped edges and is decorated with a flower basket and a tree in the center medallion. The surrounding area is decorated with three under-glaze cobalt blue reserves and three alternating reserves of gilt with rust red flowers, trees and birds. The back is hand painted with a blue under-glaze fan design.  There are traces of sand on the foot from the early firing process, indicative of the age of the charger.

Japanese Imari Blue and White Charger

Very large Japanese blue and white Imari charger with an overall landscape design of pine and willow trees, with pagodas, mountains and rivers. The back is decorated with six blue river scenes and has three pin marks and an impressed signature or makers mark (unknown).

Chinese Blue and White Large Ming Dynasty Platter
 

Rare Chinese under-glaze blue and white large ribbed Ming platter with finely scalloped edge. The center of the platter has decorations featuring two dragons and a flaming pearl on a white background. The back of the platter is heavily decorated with an under-glaze blue floral design and has the Ming mark, "Ch’eng Hua" inscribed within a double blue ring. This piece has an old professional repair (probably done in the 19th century) with three staples that do not go through to the front.  The repaired, stabilized crack is not readily visible on the front of the plate, and does not detract from its beautiful appearance.

Size: 11-1/2" Diameter
Condition: Good overall condition, with the exception of the old staple repair to the upper part of the plate, and normal wear for its age. There is also a very small older chip on the front edge.
